How to Prepare for a Private Consultation

A private consultation is a chance to speak openly and receive traditional spiritual guidance. Taking a few minutes to prepare can help you feel more settled and make the conversation more meaningful.
You do not need any special knowledge to prepare. The steps below are simple and practical, and you can use as many or as few as feel right for you.
Reflect on what you want to discuss
Start by thinking about what has brought you to seek guidance. It might be a relationship, a family matter, work, a feeling of being unsettled, or simply a wish for clarity.
- What is the main situation or question on your mind?
- How long has it been affecting you?
- What would you like to feel or understand after the consultation?
Writing a few notes beforehand can help you remember what matters most, especially if you feel nervous.
You do not need to have everything worked out. It is perfectly fine to arrive with mixed feelings or an unclear question. Part of the consultation is making sense of things together.
Decide what you are comfortable sharing
You are in control of what you share. Some people like to give plenty of background, while others prefer to start with the essentials and add more as they feel comfortable. Both approaches are completely fine.
Share only what is needed for the consultation. You never need to send ID documents, bank details or passwords.
If you use the contact form on the website, it does not store your information. It prepares a WhatsApp or email message that you send yourself.
If other people are involved in your situation, such as a partner or relative, think about how much of their private information you really need to share. Describing your own experience is usually enough.
Prepare your space and time
Consultations can be arranged by WhatsApp or phone, and the time is agreed with you when booking. A calm setting makes it easier to focus on the conversation and to take in the guidance you receive.
- Choose a quiet, private place where you will not be interrupted
- Check that your phone is charged and your connection is reliable
- Keep a notebook nearby to write down any guidance
- Give yourself a little time afterwards to reflect
Some people like to take a few quiet moments beforehand to settle their thoughts. In many African traditions, approaching guidance with a calm and respectful frame of mind is seen as part of the process.
Prepare your questions
Questions are a normal and welcome part of any consultation.
It is natural to have questions about the traditional approach, any ritual consultation that may be discussed, or practical details. Bring them with you.
Practical matters such as cost and the length of the consultation are confirmed when you get in touch, so feel free to ask about these at the start.
You are always welcome to ask for something to be explained again, or to take time before deciding on any recommendation.
- What does this practice involve, and why is it suggested?
- What can I realistically expect?
- Is follow-up available if I want it?
Go in with open and realistic expectations
A spiritual consultation offers guidance, intention-setting and support rooted in traditional practice. It does not guarantee outcomes, and it cannot control another person’s choices.
If your situation involves your health, a legal matter, money or your mental wellbeing, please also speak to a qualified professional. A spiritual consultation is not a substitute for that care, but it can sit alongside it.
